In cooperation with the American partners, MIA revealed transnational scheme of smuggling of illegal items of weapons
As a result of cooperation among the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Chief Prosecutor’s Office, the State Security Service, the Inter-Agency Division for the Control of Air Cargoes and the US Internal Security Service transnational scheme of illegal trade of weapons parts have been identified.
Mamuka Chelidze, the deputy director of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated at the briefing today that on March 15, one of the participants of the scheme, citizen of the Republic of Turkey – I.I. have been detained on the charge of smuggling large quantities of movable items.
The crime envisages imprisonment from 8 up to 11 years.
