The legislation in fight against Criminal World will become stricter in Georgia. The payroll of activities, for which the so-called “thieves in law” are due to be held criminally responsible, will become wider. The persons, who will apply to criminal authorities for protection, will be also punished by law.
According to package of legislative amendments prepared by Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), definitions of the member “Criminal World”, “thief-in-law”, “Criminal dispute” will be specified and new terminologies will emerge in the Georgia’s legislation such as the activities of “thieves’ world” and “thievery gathering”.
These terms will be defined by the amendments to the Law on Organized Crime and Racket, which will be initiated at the bureau session today.
The law enforcement agencies clarified that the proposed project has been developed based on the best international practice of combating organized crime.
