Husband and wife detained in Tbilisi on charge of trafficking against juveniles
Officers of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained a husband and wife in Tbilisi on charge of trafficking against juveniles – Mamuka Chelidze, Head of Organized Crime Main Division of Central Criminal Police of MIA reported during the briefing.
According to Chelidze, MIA continues carrying out various activities in struggle against trafficking. Based on 2018 report the US State Department, Georgia fully meets international standards with respect to fight against trafficking.
Investigation determined that the couple forced juveniles to ask for money from people at entrances of subway stations and underground passages across Tbilisi. The coupe faces from 17 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
