Hungary is interested in the development of the Middle Corridor, said Péter Szijjártó, Hungarian Foreign Minister in an interview with Azerbaijani Trend news agency.
“China is now the second source of imports for the Hungarian economy. Hungary is the number one country for Chinese investment in Central Europe. We are buying more and more energy resources from this region, including oil from Kazakhstan and natural gas from Azerbaijan.
Therefore, we are absolutely interested in increasing the capacity of delivery routes between Asia and Europe. This means that we would like to contribute to increasing the capacity of the Middle Corridor, whether it is a transport route, a railway, or the transport of electricity or gas. In this regard, we have exemplary cooperation with Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania within the framework of a project called “Middle Green Corridor”, which provides for the transportation of green energy from the Caspian region to Central Europe,” he said.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route starts from Southeast Asia and China, runs through Kazakhstan, the Caspian sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to European countries.
