Hungarian FM: Criticism only arises when pro-sovereignty parties win
No international organization has said that the elections in Georgia were not free, fair, or democratic. Everything is clear: If the opposition had won, there would have been no problem with democracy in Georgia. Since the ruling party has won, which is a pro-sovereignty, pro-peace, pro-family party, there are accusations regarding the elections, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó.
“If the opposition had won these elections, there would be no problems. If right-wing parties, conservatives or pro-sovereignty parties win, only then are there systemic problems with democracy. If the liberals win, all is well and the sun is shining. It is very simple”, said Szijjártó.
When asked if Hungary is requesting an investigation into the elections, Szijjártó responds with “no.”
“Hungary does not ask for this. We had Hungarian observers here. They issued a clear report that this was a free, fair and competitive election. We believe the Hungarian observers. This is a fact”, said Siyarto.
Regarding Georgia’s integration into the European Union, Szijjártó mentioned that the process being frozen is shameful.
“This is a purely political decision because Brussels wanted another government there. This is a fact. I am absolutely sure that Georgia will join the European Union”, said Szijjártó.
