House of Lords of Great Britain discusses issue of Georgia

The House of Lords of Great Britain has held a hearing of the issue of occupation of Georgian territories.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the hearing was called “How to ensure that Russia respects Georgia’s territorial integrity and withdraws troops from the Georgian territories”.

“I would like to remind the House of Lords that Foreign Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson discussed the issue of Georgia with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his visit to Moscow. The United Kingdom strongly supports Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Last year, Britain supported two UN resolutions, which state that Abkhazia and South Ossetia are parts of Georgia. We have also used the OSCE statements to condemn Russia’s actions in Georgia”, – said Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the UN.

In the process of development and peace building in Georgia, the State Minister emphasized the meeting between the Prime Ministers of the two countries, who discussed the prospects of assistance of Great Britain in the implementation of democratic reforms in Georgia.
