Hostages released from MBC branch in Tbilisi. Attacker apprehended
All the hostages have been released from the MBC branch on Tsereteli Avenue, Tbilisi and the attacker has been arrested, said the Head of Public Relations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) Nino Giorgobiani.
Earlier today, the attacker took 11 hostages and made three demands in a video: to ban all types of gambling in Georgia, including online games; Banks set a maximum annual interest rate of only seven per cent; Reduce prices on drugs.
MIA says the investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition as well as on the fact of armed robbery, crimes envisaged under the article 236 and 179 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
