High Representative Kallas: It's my first Hungarian veto, but I can guarantee it's not the last
“It’s my first Hungarian veto, but I can guarantee it’s not the last, but no, I’m still optimist,” said Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission, following the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
“So, I worked intensely with Hungarian colleagues and I intend to work with them in the future as well. So, not only me, I think the others as well, and proposing also different solutions to overcome, but, you know, we achieved a lot, this foreign affairs council for the first one.
I mean, we got the association council coming. We have the visa-free regime suspended. So we still, you know, accomplish something, but not 100%. That is clear. So we will need to work on that,” Kaja Kallas stated.
The EU Foreign Affairs Council agreed on “the need to hold the visa-free regime for [Georgian] diplomatic passport holders.” “And we also discussed the sanctioning of these Georgian officials who are behind the violence against peaceful protestors,” Kallas noted.
