Health Ministry: Regulatory Agency proactively registers 563 medicines
At the initiative of the Minister of Health, the Regulation Agency for Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities is proactively registering medications as part of the pharmaceutical market reform to boost the supply of quality medicines for the population.
“We took advantage of the legal possibility and are proactively registering numerous drugs without alerting the company.” Pharmaceutical businesses can import these pharmaceuticals directly into the country without red tape. Several businesses purposefully did not register or cancel registration owing to competition to prevent others from introducing the drug. The system also protects this risk,” Zurab Azarashvili explained.
As a result of the move, the agency has registered 563 pharmaceutical medicines in the last year. This makes it easier for pharmaceutical companies to bring drugs into the country. Proactive pharmaceutical product registration facilitates the import of medications and assures the availability of a diverse variety of pharmaceutical goods in the Georgian market.
