Guards of Rioni Gorge rally at Environment Protection and Agriculture Ministry

Members of Guards of the Rioni Gorge movement rally at the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

They demand cancellation of the license issued on 104 712 hectares of forest land in 2022 based on which Racha forests were leased to businessman Davit Khidasheli for 49-year term.

Varlam Goletiani, the protest organizer, said that they had been rallying for one week, though the police prevent them to set up a temporary shelter and bring an electric generator at the site. He demands an explanation from the police and the Ministry.
