GPB reporter interrogated in investigation into obstruction of media activities
As part of the investigation into interference with journalistic activities, the Special Investigation Service is questioning Shalva Sumbadze, a reporter for GPB First Channel. The inquiry was initiated based on publicly released video footage.
“An incident occurred on the morning of November 19, which is why they contacted me. They informed me they had questions regarding material shared on social media and our website. This likely pertains to the interference I experienced while covering the rally that morning. They specifically reached out to me about my case, but there have also been previous incidents of interference involving our journalists and other media outlets,” stated Shalva Sumbadze before entering the Investigation Service for questioning.
On November 20, the Special Investigation Service launched an investigation into claims of unlawful interference with journalists’ professional activities during a rally held on Chavchavadze and Melikishvili Avenues on November 18-19.
