GPB General Director meets with Head of OSCE/ODIHR observer mission

Tinatin Berdzenishvili, General Director of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) met with Jillian Stirk, Head of OSCE/ODIHR observer mission and members of the mission.

The current and future projects of the channel were discussed during the meeting, with special emphasis on pre-election period and the role of the Public Broadcaster in this process.

Stirk talked about standards and mechanisms based on which the observer mission will monitor the election process. “Our role is to ensure the election process to be in line with international democratic standards, OSCE principles and Georgian national legislation,” Stirk said.

Head of OSCE/ODIHR observer mission said that the group of observers had been in Georgia for already one week. The members are holding meetings with representatives of mass media, political parties, state institutions and civil society.
