Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB), Tinatin Berdzenishvili, congratulated teachers on World Teachers’ Day at the 2022 Teachers National Award ceremony.

GPB Director General awarded Teleskola (Teleschool) teacher Khatuna Nozadze with the First Channel Prize.

“I congratulate everyone present here, and especially the TV viewers, who I guess are teachers, on World Teachers’ Day. Last year it was the first time when we were on the air wearing facemasks and following the social distancing rule. The next day, we received many calls expressing the desire to be part of this next year. This TV broadcast is additional motivation for many teachers to become participants in this festivity.

First Channel set the prize, and we gave the right to ourselves, to have our winner on behalf of Teleskola. I will not speak much about the project’s significance which I did last year. But I am glad that there is our Teleskola teacher, who did magic, among the ten nominees. This is Khatuna Nozadze, a chemistry teacher, one of Teleskola’s beloved teachers. We are proud of you,” Tinatin Berdzenishvili said.

Additionally, the GPB Director General informed that 6,000 6th-graders registered for the Online Olympiad 1tvplay this year, indicating that children are eager to learn.

As part of the Public Broadcaster’s plan to add more school subjects, Tinatin Berdzenishvili invited everyone to share their ideas.

World Teachers’ Day is held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe.
