GPB Dir/Gen says GPB's cornerstone of democracy, constructive journalism implies progress towards democracy
“The Constructive News Conference, conducted by the Constructive Institute CEO Ulrik Haagerup in Tbilisi at the invitation of the Georgian Public Broadcaster, is of interest to both GPB journalists and the Georgian media landscape,” GPB Director General Tinatin Berdzenishvili has stated.
Constructive journalism, Berdzenishvili says, is a new trend in Western European countries.
“We’ve been talking about Constructive Journalism and its importance in building a democratic state for a long time. Ulrik Haagerup established the Constructive Institute in Denmark. This type of journalism is employed in all newsrooms, and it solves all of our sceptical questions,” she added.
The GPB Director General went on to say that the project would continue with the help of the European Broadcasting Union as “GPB is the cornerstone of democracy, and constructive journalism implies progress toward democracy.”
The Constructive News Conference is being held in the Tbilisi Radisson Hotel as part of Ulrik Haagerup’s visit to Georgia at the invitation of the Georgian Public Broadcaster. On the first day of his visit, Ulrik Haagerup held a workshop for GPB First Channel producers, editors, and journalists. The training encompassed both practical and theoretical knowledge exchange.
Eleven GPB journalists underwent training at the Constructive Institute in Denmark. By the end of the year, 18 GPB First Channel journalists will have graduated from the constructive journalism course.
