“I am proud that we have been able to show respect for our country and the legendary TV presenters despite the pandemic or other challenges,” Tinatin Berdzenishvili, Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster, stated at Mtatsminda Park star opening ceremony.

Due to the almost century-old history of broadcasting, Tinatin Berdzenishvili noted, the Georgian Public Broadcaster is a carrier of a unique archive, cultural memory and heritage, which has a special place in the identity of Georgian people.

“This year marks 65 years since the beginning of television broadcasting in Georgia, and 96 years since the beginning of radio broadcasting, nearly a century of audiovisual memory, the first stream of which spread from this place, from the Tbilisi TV tower and a small studio located here. The stars to famous pioneer TV presenters are located at Mtatsminda Park today.

We started this tradition in 2013, and I am proud that since the opening of the first stars, despite the pandemic or other challenges, we have been able to show respect to the legendary presenters and television. Due to the almost century-old history of broadcasting, today, the Public Broadcaster is a carrier of a unique archive, cultural memory and heritage, which has a special place in the identity of our people.

This experience gives us the courage to boldly take on new challenges and respond to the demands of the next generation, to broadcast to a diverse audience and to be a platform for dialogue aimed at continuous development,” said Tinatin Berdzenishvili, GPB Director-General.

Stars of three TV faces of Georgian First Television, Irina Matiashvili, Tina Mgaloblishvili and Irma Gurieli, opened near the TV tower at Mtatsminda Park.
