GPB Dir/Gen, Board of Trustees Chair meet Parliament Speaker, GD Chair over draft law on GPB financing model

The Director General of the GPB First Channel, Tinatin Berdzenishvili, and the Chairman of the GPB Board of Trustees, Vasil Maglaperidze, on Sunday, met with the Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, and the Chairman of the Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze.

The meeting ended in an agreement that further work on the amendment to the broadcaster’s financing model will continue to develop the model which will remove questions related to independence in the proposed version and protect the regulations and standards of the European Broadcasting Union.

At the same time, the new model will ensure flexibility of funding and meet the needs and standards of the public broadcaster.

Discussions on the said topic will continue in a working format.
