Gov't Commission discusses EYOF Bakuriani 2025 organizational details
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the inaugural session of the government commission tasked with facilitating the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, “Bakuriani 2025,” was held.
As government administration’s press service reports, during the session, commission members focused on various organizational matters to ensure the successful execution of the upcoming Olympic event.
“For the 2025 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure is constructing a biathlon and cross-country facility, along with a 3.5 km track in Bakuriani, and building an ice palace in Tbilisi.
Work on the biathlon and ski racing tracks, as well as related infrastructure in Bakuriani, is actively progressing. Additionally, water supply and electrical systems are being installed for artificial snowmaking on the race tracks.
The Tbilisi Ice Palace, which is designed for hockey, figure skating, and curling, is nearing completion and will accommodate up to 700 spectators. These projects are financed with over GEL 50 million from the state budget,” the government administration stated.
A government commission was established to facilitate the successful hosting of the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Bakuriani. This commission is responsible for coordinating the efforts of various agencies and organizations involved in organizing the festival and addressing related operational challenges.
“Georgia will host the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in February 2025,” the government administration concluded.
