GOC advocates for choices that promote peace and uphold Christian values and traditions

“The Georgian Orthodox Church cannot align itself with any political faction; however, it will support the choice that fosters lasting peace and upholds the values that strengthen Christian and family traditions,” stated the Georgian Orthodox Church (GOC).

According to the GOC, the country is currently navigating an important juncture.

“The primary objective of state institutions and society is twofold: to protect our national and religious values while also promoting national unity, safeguarding sovereignty, and ensuring peace.

We have consistently emphasized that the Georgian Orthodox Church, as a unifying force for our nation, will support the choice that leads to enduring peace and reinforces the values that enhance Christian and family traditions.

Therefore, amidst rising emotions and tensions, we urge the clergy to consider their special role in preserving public unity and calm in their statements.

Let us pray that the Lord grants mercy to our nation and, following the words of the Apostle preserves the unity of our souls through the bond of peace,” the GOC statement reads.
