There are now over 19 million confirmed COVID-19 cases globally, with over 712,000 fatalities and more than 11.5 million recoveries, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University.
The Chinese mainland recorded 37 new cases on Thursday, with 27 domestically transmitted cases – 26 in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and one in Beijing.
The U.S. now has over 4.8 million infections and its death toll has exceeded 160,000.
India’s COVID-19 tally breached the two million mark on Friday, according to the central health ministry.
