Girchi Leader: People brought by GD could be our voters, we don't want them to suffer any harm, be bullied or insulted

Girchi leader Iago Khvichia expressed concerns about the potential risk of confrontation on April 29 due to the government’s planned counter-protest.

Khvichia stated that while Girchi supports the spirit of the ‘No to Russian Law’ rally, they do not want any harm to come to the individuals brought by the ruling Georgian Dream party.

“If there are two rallies on April 29, there is a risk of confrontation. Girchi members will carry attributes and flags to make it clear who we are, and we will stand in the middle. We want to engage with both groups. While we support the spirit of the ‘No to Russian Law’ campaign, we also recognize that the people brought by GD could be our future voters, and we do not want them to suffer any harm, be bullied or insulted by someone. We stand alongside participants from both rallies because there might be people there, who feel compelled to attend such a counter-protest out of fear of losing their jobs. There is a risk of conflict because the government has planned a counter-protest,” Kvichia stated.
