Giorgi Mskhiladze: President vetoes Transparency Law with motivated remarks

President’s Parliamentary Secretary Giorgi Mskhiladze stated on Monday that the parliamentary majority “is attempting to deceive” the public by claiming that the President vetoed ‘the Russian Law’ on May 18, without providing reasoned comments.

“The President’s veto is justified; it identifies the four provisions of the Constitution that are infringed by this legislation. It is stated why the aforementioned law is Russian.

The motive for its adoption is stated, as is the way in which this law was adopted, which is unsatisfactory and inadmissible to us.

Adding a single line to a legislation to make it effective for one day is a typical technique required to repeal a law.

If the law has not been enacted, therefore, it cannot be repealed. The veto itself will be reflected on the official website of the President and the official Facebook page,” Mskhiladze added.
