The gift of the German people was handed over to Georgia as a sign that just like the overwhelming injustice towards the German people ended and the wall artificially dividing German people was collapsed, the evil wall installed in Georgia will be destroyed, – Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili made the regarding statement during the official ceremony of installing the fragment of the Berlin Wall at European Square in Tbilisi.

“I’m very glad that today we have the privilege to open this wonderful place, which will always remind us that all evil walls will sooner or later be destroyed. The gift of the German people has come to the Georgian people as a sign that the wall of the evil will be destroyed in Georgia peacefully like the overwhelming injustice towards the German people, which artificially divided the German people, was destroyed. Always, when the civilized world stands together, it is possible to achieve such an outcome through reasonable steps and bold politics”, – Prime Minister said.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked the German people and the government for a symbolic gift.

“I am very glad that we are celebrating Germany-Georgia year and next year we have the 100^th anniversary of declaration of the first republic of Georgia and we remember the role of Germany in these important events. Georgia will express gratitude towards the German people on May 26, 2018, “- Giorgi Kvirikashvili said.

Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has expressed his surprise due to the fact that no photos of Eduard Shevardnadze have been exhibited at the photo exhibition on the occasion of the demolition of the Berlin Wall.

According to him, the role of the former president of Georgia in that important world event was very significant. “I am very surprised that Eduard Shevardnadze’s photos have not been exhibited today, as the role of the then Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union in this very important event was unmanageable and it should be noted in history,” – said the Prime Minister.

The fragment of the Berlin Wall has been erected in the European Square today. The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Ambassador of Germany to Georgia, the Ambassador of Georgia to Germany and other officials. The fragment of the Berlin Wall was presented as a gift to the Georgian PM during his visit to Germany as a sign of Georgia-Germany’s friendly relationship.
