Giorgi Kvirikashvili – Speaking in language of ultimatum is unacceptable
“Speaking in the language of ultimatum on part of non-governmental organizations is unacceptable. One part of NGOs is trying to boycott the legitimacy of Chief Prosecutor’s selection process,” Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.
PM thus responded to the demand of non-governmental organizations. “We said many times that we will ensure involvement of wider public in selection of Chief Prosecutor. Representatives of the society, academic circles and non-governmental sector will be involved in the process,” Kvirikashvili stated.
About 10 non-governmental organizations demand resignation of Tea Tsulukiani, Justice Minister. Representatives of NGOs claimed during the press conference that they would not become involved in the process of selection of Chief Prosecutor until Tsulukiani quit her post.
Irakli Shotadze, former Chief Prosecutor of Georgia quit post on May 31 in connection with the decision made by the court into murder case of Khorava Street, a bloody conflict among teenagers on December 1, 2017, which claimed lives of two juveniles.
