The State Department’s Country Reports on Terrorism 2019 praises Georgia’s special services, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated at today’s Cabinet meeting.
Giorgi Gakharia emphasized that Georgia must do everything to step up further its cooperation with the United States of America, the country’s key strategic partner, especially in the area of security.
“Their effectiveness is commended highly, and we must do everything to step up our cooperation with the United States of America, our key strategic partner, especially in the area of security. We all must understand that we have our own function in the region, and this function, above all, concerns regional security and peace, and our cooperation with the US is growing increasingly relevant and meaningful in this context,” the Prime Minister said.
The US Department of State has published a 2019 report on terrorism, which, among other countries, assesses Georgia’s activities. In the document, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) is named as Georgia’s lead agency for terrorism-related incidents and investigations.
