Giorgi Gakharia – MIA changes rule for employment of personnel

“We believe that investigation component in Ministry of Internal Affairs should be elite,” Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Internal Affairs stated during the conference “Reform of Investigation System.”

According to Gakharia, investigation component should be an intellectual core that would ensure high quality of police activities. He also talked about changing the rule for employment of personnel and worked out qualification courses for the staff.

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) held a conference “Reform of Investigation System” with support of European Union Criminal Justice Support Project at Radisson Blue Iveria Hotel in Tbilisi.

Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Internal Affairs opened the conference. Shalva Tadumadze, Chief Prosecutor of Georgia participated in the conference. Representatives of the Ministry, Chief Prosecutor’s Office and non-governmental and international organizations attended the conference.

Minister Gakharia talked about reforms to be carried out in Criminal Police. He focused on strengthening investigative, operative and district directions separately to raise the efficiency of Criminal Police activities.

Gakharia underlined on the worked out model of improvement of investigators’ qualification and motivation of the employed personnel. The new structure of Tbilisi Police Department was presented during the conference.
