Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia met with Erik Høeg, Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) to Georgia. The main issue of discussion was the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia.
According to Prime Minister’s Press Office, during the meeting, it was pointed out that the recent developments near occupation line with Tskhinvali, in particular in Chorchana and Gugutiantkari villages, as well as illegal detentions of Georgian citizens, severely violate the security and human rights situation on the ground.
Prime Minister underlined the importance to maintain occupation problems at the top place in the western partners’ agenda. He also highlighted the EUMM’s role in decreasing tension and maintaining peace.
The Prime Minister thanked the EU Monitoring Mission for its involvement in the Geneva International Discussion and Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meetings.
