Giorgi Gakharia’s Meeting with George Kent

Key directions of Georgia-US strategic partnership and a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues were discussed during today’s meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia and Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent. The meeting was held at the Administration of the Government.

Special emphasis was placed on the recent bipartisan Georgia Support Act passed by the US House of Representatives. The Prime Minister commended this document as yet another demonstration of the highest level of relations enjoyed by Georgia and the US.

The conversation also revolved around the dire security and humanitarian state of affairs in Georgia’s occupied territories, and the recent processes along the occupation line. The parties underlined the importance of international mechanisms and support from partner countries in ensuring peace on the ground.

The meeting was attended by US Chargé d’Affaires Elizabeth Rood and US Embassy Political/Economic Chief Liz Zentos, also, from the Georgian side, Head of the Administration of the Government Natia Mezvrishvili and the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Irakli Chikovani.
