Giorgi Gakharia: If chances of reducing quarantine period are such that it does not harm our citizens' health, we should use it
“If chances of reducing the quarantine period are such that it does not harm our citizens’ health, we should use it,” Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia briefed reporters.
As Gakharia noted, the Health Ministry was instructed to conduct research on this issue.
“No country alone can beat the virus, it is a global pandemic. We should learn how to manage the virus. We should not be afraid if the number of infected people rises by 20-30-40. If we manage the virus, we will not have to impose additional restrictions, especially when the electoral process is underway,” stressed Gakharia.
At this stage, a 12-day quarantine is in force in Georgia. The Head of the National Center for Desease Control and Prevention (NCDC) Amiran Gmakrelidze said earlier this week that there is a possibility to reduce quarantine period from 12 to 8 days.
