The delimitation-demarcation is a principal issue. During some years there was an uncertain pause over this issue, which should be solved urgently, – Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia made this statement when addressing the MPs at the Parliament within the framework of the “Minister’s Hour”.

Questions about David Gareji have been raised by MPs at the plenary session of the Parliament.

“The issue of Davit Gareji quite a delicate issue. This issue has been raised since 1996, and this is the post-soviet heritage. The issue of delimitation-demarcation is a principal issue. During some years there was an uncertain pause, which should be solved urgently”, – Minister said.

According to him, a new demarcation commission will be staffed, presumably, at the meeting of the government in the nearest future.

“I can tell you that in the nearest future, a new commission of demarcation will be set up and we will start this work together with our neighbor. The Commission will start to work urgently and within the possible time frames, we should all try to solve this issue once and forever. This is the post-soviet heritage that goes on for decades. While everyone understands that Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Georgia, our friend nation, of course, within the frameworks of the work of the demarcation commission we will solve all the problems that are related to the cultural heritage issues, as well as the issues that are in the interests of our church,” –  Minister added.
