Giorgi Gakharia: Combat violence against women should not be the concern of only women, we must all come together in this fight
Combat violence against women should not be the concern of only women, but we all must come together in this fight, – the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia wrote this statement on his Facebook page.
The head of government notes that much has already been achieved in this direction through joint efforts, but much remains to be done.
“Indeed, we have good legislation, much has been done by joint efforts. But, we should do more as the situation worsened. Over the past two months, eight women were killed by their family members.
Joint efforts have brought great results. So, now, all government departments, civil society, the media and international partners must rejoin again.
I urge members of my cabinet, well-known public figures, athletes, politicians, representatives of the media and others to publicly condemn the facts of violence against women.
March 8 comes in two days. Our task is not just symbolically to mark this day, but to see daily progress in this direction”, – Prime Minister stated.
