Gia Volski: Massive financial resources in NGO hands to radicalize processes, transparency demanded
First Vice Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski, stated, “Massive financial resources are mobilized in the hands of non-governmental organizations to radicalize processes,” and he demands transparency from them.
Volski was asked questions regarding the memorandum published by the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O’Flaherty on the human rights situation in Georgia, outlining his concerns and recommendations regarding the rights to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression, the protection of civil society, and the rights of LGBTI people.
“EU Ambassador, Hartzell, said back in 2024 that the ‘Law on Protecting Family Values’ was a manifest contrary to European standards, allegedly restricting specific human rights, and claimed that the ‘Transparency Law’ was Russian. Hartzell was the first to state that Georgia had stopped moving towards Europe, which caused tension because part of the society followed this disinformation, with people’s minds being brainwashed through tens of millions spent during the pre-election period.
Their ideas did not succeed because no rights are being restricted; only the active actions of those who want to infiltrate families through LGBTQ propaganda are limited.
Democracy in Georgia is not restricted by any measure. If a person throws pyrotechnics and ‘Molotov cocktails’ at a police officer, naturally, the police will respond accordingly, just as in any other democracy,” Gia Volski stated.
