Gia Volski - I believe the majority will decide to override President's veto
The Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski believes that the majority will override the veto of President over legislative package on Law on Broadcasting.
As Volski told journalists, the consultations on this issue will be held.
“We will get acquainted with the motivated remarks of President, but I think that the decision we’ve made is fair and is based on depth analysis. I believe the majority will decide not to support the veto. European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is a solid structure, whose representatives came to Georgia and clearly explained what is and how important the Public Broadcaster is. Commercial advertising, which will have a limited time frame, will not be able to affect other televisions”, – said Vice-Speaker.
The President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili vetoed the legislative package of amendments proposed to be made into Law on Broadcasting. President spoke about reasons of his decision at the press conference held today. According to Margvelashvili he has remarks mainly in two directions – the first concerns to advertisement and the second is related to procurement.
