Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia amounted to USD 1 902.2 million in 2023 (adjusted data), which is down 15.6 % from 2022 and up 19.3 % from the preliminary data of 2023, the National Statistics Service (GeoStat) reported.
The share of reinvestment in the total volume of foreign direct investments reached 83.7 in 2023 according to adjusted data. The volume of share capital is 50.7% higher than the adjusted figure of the previous year.
The share of the three largest investor countries in the total volume of foreign direct investments reached 49.0 % in 2023 according to adjusted data. Major foreign direct investor countries allocated as follows: The Netherlands 20.3 % (USD 386.3 million), the United Kingdom 19.2 % (USD 364.3 million) and the United States 9.6 % (USD 182.2 million).
The share of FDI by three major economic sectors reached 63.1 % in 2023. The largest share of FDI was allocated in the Financial and insurance activities sector, totalling USD 583.6 million (30.7 %). The trade sector was the second with USD 314.3 million (16.5 %), followed by the Manufacturing sector with USD 301.5 million (15.9 %).
