Geostat: Expenditures for abroad visits in Q2 2024 total 594.3 million GEL

In the second quarter of 2024, the number of trips abroad made by Georgian residents was 697.8 thousand. The majority of trips (46.6 %) were taken by travellers aged 31-50, the Geostat reported.

Of the total number of trips, 562.1 thousand were outbound visits, marking a 3.4 % increase compared to the same period in 2023. Outbound visitors made 360.2 thousand tourist-type visits, representing an 8.6 % increase over the previous year.

Most of outbound visits (49.1 % ) were made by visitors aged 31-50, and women made 45.5% of the total visits. The primary purpose of outbound visits in the second quarter of 2024 was to visit friends or relatives (34.0 %).

Turkey and the Russian Federation were the most visited countries, with 229.0 thousand and 105.4 thousand visits, respectively.

The average number of nights spent during the visits was 6.3, a 4.3 % increase from the same period in 2023. Additionally, 98.1 % of outbound visits were repeat visits.

Expenditures during the visits in the second quarter of 2024 totalled 594.3 million GEL, reflecting a 15.6 % increase compared to the previous year. The average expenditure per visit increased by 11.7 % from the second quarter of 2023, reaching 1,057.2 GEL.
