According to the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) methodology, the Georgian National Statistics Service (GeoStat) has calculated the inflation rate at -0.5% for July 2023. This figure is 0.8% lower than the inflation rate calculated using the national methodology, which was set at 0.3%.
The percentage changes compared to the corresponding period in 2022, as per the EU HICP methodology, are as follows:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: -0.2%;
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: 6.4%;
Clothing and shoes: 0.8%;
Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other types of heating: 3.5%;
Furniture, household items and decorations, home care, and repair: 1.4%;
Healthcare: -7.3%;
Transport: -13.1%;
Communication: -2.7%;
Leisure, entertainment, and culture: 1.0%;
Education: 7.0%;
Hotels, cafes, and restaurants: 6.1%;
Various goods and services: 9.9%.
