Georgia's inflation passes peak period, keeps downward trend, NBG says
Georgia’s annual inflation rate amounted to 9.4% In January 2023, while consumer prices soared by 0.8% compared to December, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported on Monday.
The NBG stated that the inflation in Georgia has passed its peak period, keeping downward trend in recent months, largely attributed to the decline in the imported inflation.
“Imported inflation fell by 4.5% in January. Locally produced product inflation is still high, hitting 14.2%, owing to growing food costs (bread, cheese, meat) as well as service price hikes (apartment rent, notary fees, therapist consultation),” the NBG asserted.
