Georgia's FM: Our peace policy to yield positive results, ultimately lead to de-occupation
We will spare no effort to strengthen Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. We have declared a peace policy, which will definitely yield positive results and ultimately lead to de-occupation, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili.
He emphasized that the government focuses on issues related to the occupied territories when implementing foreign policy.
“One of the most difficult, main and sensitive challenges is the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, the occupied territories that are not under the control of Georgia today. Consequently, we dedicate significant attention to the occupied territories while implementing our foreign policy in parallel with European integration efforts. We have a declared peace policy, which will necessarily yield positive results, ultimately leading to the de-occupation of our territories,” the FM said.
Regarding the messages from the European Union, Darchiashvili asserts that the EU made the correct decision, emphasizing that the enlargement policy is a means to enhance the European Union’s strength and development.
“Our stance on European integration is not only rooted in the benefits we anticipate but also in our commitment to bring our values into this family. The benefits we aim to receive are also intended for our fellow citizens residing in the occupied territories. I am confident that through our rational and peace-oriented policy, we will undoubtedly achieve the consolidation and strengthening of our country,” stated Darchiashvili.
