The Georgian national women’s chess team defeated the Kazakh team in both matches of the final stage of the World Team Championship held in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz, thus claiming the championship title.
The Georgian national team had previously overcome China in the quarter-finals and the United States of America in the semi-finals to advance to this stage.
The Georgian national team that triumphed in the World Team Championship consisted of the following players: Bela Khotenashvili (2423), Mary Arabidze (2349), Nino Batsiashvili (2366), Lela Javakhishvili (2342), Salome Melia (2267).
This very same lineup led Georgia to victory in the World Team Championship in 2015.
