Georgian Vice PM hosts PACE representatives

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri met with representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister Shalva Bedoidze and Deputy Ministers Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and Giorgi Butkhuzi.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed the measures implemented by the Ministry during last year’s parliamentary elections. Minister Gomelauri provided PACE co-rapporteurs with detailed information regarding the illegal activities of violent rally participants and the police’s effective response during recent events on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi,” the MIA stated.

During the visit, the PACE delegation will meet with representatives of the executive and legislative branches, members of various sectors, and the Public Defender.
