Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili congratulated the Italian people on Republic Day.
In her tweet, President Zourabichvili said: “Congratulations to the Italian people today. This year, Georgia and Italy celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations. Next week, I’ll be on a State Visit to Italy to reaffirm the thousands of years of close ties between our cultures, our peoples.”
Speaker Papuashvili said Georgia and Italy celebrate “our shared European values including freedom, democracy, and our flourishing cultural ties.”
FM Darchiashvili wished the Italian people “every happiness and continued success.”
Festa della Repubblica is the Italian National Day and Republic Day, celebrated on 2 June each year. The day commemorates the institutional referendum held by universal suffrage in 1946, in which the Italian people were called to the polls to decide on the form of government following the Second World War and the fall of Fascism.
