Georgian teacher named among top ten teachers of Global Teacher Prize 2019
Lado Apkhazava has been named among the top ten teachers of Global Teacher Prize 2019. The finalists were identified several hours ago. They were nominated by actror Hugh Jackman.
“When I was a kid there were lots of superheroes that I wanted to be. But I can tell you right now, from where I stand, with all my experience, the real superheroes are teachers – they’re the ones that change the world,” – the actor, singer and producer, Hugh Jackman, said in his special video address.
According to the information posted on the official website of Teacher’s National Award 2017, the top 10 come from all corners of the globe. From teaching in remote towns and villages to inner-city schools, they advocate for inclusivity and for child rights, integrate migrants into classrooms, and nurture their students’ abilities and confidence using music, technology, robotics and science.

The Global Tachor 2019 winner will be announced on March 24, 2019 at Dubai’s Education and Skills Forum and will receive a million US dollars as a prize.
Lado Apkhazava teaches civic education in the Chibati public school, Lanchkhuti municipality. Lado Abkhazia won Teacher’s National Award 2017.
