Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Wednesday.
According to the Parliament’s press office, the parties highlighted the Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed in January 2024 between Georgia and Armenia as a logical perpetuation of the historical friendship between the two countries.
Papuashvili thanked the Armenian politician for the initial support of the UN Resolution on IDPs and Refugees from the Occupied Territories of Georgia.
The parties stressed the solid links between the governments and legislative bodies of Georgia and Armenia and underlined the significance of parliamentary diplomacy for further enhancement of the cooperation.
The discourse included the consideration of regional peace. The emphasis was placed on the imperative nature of the conclusion of the peace-building agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to ensure peace and welfare in the region.
Mr. Mirzoyan expressed his gratitude for the commitment of Georgia to facilitating regional peace, reads the press statement.
