Georgian Public Defender Levan Ioseliani met with the Chairman of the Council of Europe Commission on Human Rights, Dunia Miatovich, in Strasbourg.
According to the Public Defender’s Office, Miatovich congratulated Ioseliani on his election to the new role and emphasized the need for close cooperation between the CoE and his Office.
At the meeting, the Public Defender reviewed the issues of human rights protection in Georgia, and focused on challenges related to media, freedom of expression, and minority groups; He also focused on the living conditions of those living along the occupation line.
The parties talked about the priorities of the Public Defender’s Office and its role in implementing the EC’s 12 points.
