Georgian Public Defender Levan Ioseliani on Sunday met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maria Peichinovich-Burich, who is visiting Georgia.
According to the Public Defender’s press office, the parties reviewed the current state of human rights protection in Georgia, the EU integration issues, as well as the nation’s process of implementing the EC-outlined 12 points.
“The public defender spoke about the activities of his office, current projects, the 2023-2030 human rights strategy details and action plan.
The CoE Secretary General stressed the special role of an independent institution amid polarization, praised the Public Defender for effective collaboration in the field of human rights, and expressed confidence that the aforesaid practice would continue in the future,” reads the press statement.
