Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili hosted the Vice-President of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany, Katrin Goering-Eckardt, at Orbelian Palace in Tbilisi.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Georgia and Germany and Germany’s support of Georgia in the EU integration process, the ongoing war in Ukraine and regional issues.
Georgian President once again emphasized the importance of this support, saying recognition of Georgia’s European perspective has a historical significance, though regretted that Georgia could not receive the candidate status.
Vice-President of the Bundestag expressed his readiness to help Georgia fulfil the European Commission-proposed 12-point priorities.
The parties reviewed the war waged by Russia in Ukraine and its consequences. The President noted that Georgia strictly complies with the international sanctions imposed on Russia.
