Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili met the Speaker of the Seimas, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.
According to the President’s press office, the conversation touched on the development of bilateral ties between Georgia and Lithuania, including parliamentary relations.
The meeting covered the ongoing war in Ukraine and regional development and once again, Zourabichvili, on behalf of the Georgian people, expressed solidarity with Ukraine.
Speaking about Georgia’s EU integration process, the President emphasized that EU accession is the unwavering will of the largest part of the Georgian population, and the recent March rallies [against the so-called foreign agents’ bill] proved that.
The press release claims that the Georgian people need to hear a clear message that Europe is behind them during the EU integration process. The President’s upcoming visit to European Parliament on April 18 serves this very purpose.
The duo also talked about the dire humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and how European integration is also the largest chance for those who live there.
