Georgian President meets Health Minister over achondroplasia treatment plan
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Wednesday met with Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili at the Orbeliani Palace.
According to the President’s press office, the Minister informed Zourabichvili of the issues linked to the treatment of children with achondroplasia and the ministry’s action plans in this respect.
Earlier today, the Health Minister instructed the Rare Diseases Coordination Council to develop the guideline for Vosoritide, the drug for achondroplasia, before the end of the summer.
“The guideline should be comprehensive, covering all the needs that children with achondroplasia have today,” said physician Lali Margvelashvili after the council meeting.
Parents of children with achondroplasia have been holding a rally at the government administration, demanding Vosoritide be imported and funded by the government.
