Georgian President: Global crisis can be overcome through solidarity
“The world has been battling an invisible enemy for more than a year. The crisis has hit the smallest countries severely. The global crisis can only be overcome through solidarity and cooperation”, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili stated at the joint press conference held with the President of North Macedonia on Monday.
President underscored the support of North Macedonia toward Georgia.
“Euro-Atlantic integration is the path we have chosen. The support of our partner countries is important to achieve success. We appreciate the desire of North Macedonia to share their experience in this direction,” President said.
As Salome Zourabichvili stated, the meeting discussed the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, borderization, unlawful detentions. The sides focused on regional issues, the situation in Ukraine, the Russian militarization process in the Black Sea and the Caucasus region.
“The answer to this escalation is one, NATO summits. The messages must be very clear to Georgia and Ukraine. This is the only non-confrontational response to this crisis”, President declared.
According to Zourablishvili, one of the main goals of the visit is to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
President Zourabicvili is paying her first official visit to North Macedonia. Salome Zourabichvili and North Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski signed a visa-free travel agreement between Georgia and North Macedonia following the meeting at the Villa Vodno Presidential Palace in Skopje on Monday.
