Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili congratulated Novruz holiday to everyone celebrating in Georgia and around the globe.
In her tweet, the President said: “Nowruz is a symbol of peace and renewal, hope and future. These are difficult times. But we must never lose hope. May this day be a reminder of that. To every Georgian and to everyone around the world celebrating today, Happy Nowruz!”
Azerbaijani community in Georgia today celebrates Novruz (Novruz Bayrami), a holiday marking the Persian New Year, and the beginning of Spring.
In 2010, the International Day of Nowruz was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly. Celebrated for over 3000 years in the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East and other regions, it promotes values of peace and solidarity between generations and within families as well as reconciliation and neighbourliness.
