Georgian politicians backlash to Lithuanian MP, who said Georgian lawmakers never learned the lesson to unite for strategic goals.

Georgian prime ministerial candidate Irakli Garibashvili labeled this statement as totally unacceptable and outrageous.

“We are a hospitable country, but the insults of such guests are completely unacceptable. His statements mean nothing to our team and the government. I remind this person and everyone that people elected and trusted us, therefore no one has the right to call on us with incomprehensible, unfair statements,” Gharibashvili said.

MP Mamuka Mdinaradze believes such statements are inadmissible as Russian occupation is Georgia’s key concern.

“The occupation of our territories is one of the main pains of Georgia. It is absolutely unacceptable when someone mentions these occupied territories as already lost. Georgians and Georgia will never tolerate that,” Mdinaradze stressed.

MP Rati Ionatamishvili added that Lithuanian PM’s statement goes beyond friendship.

“We have not lost our territories, and we will not lose them until at least one Georgian is alive. These territories are occupied – we are fighting for de-occupation. I hope he will take this into account and apologize,” Ionatamishvili hopes.

Lithuanian MP Žygimantas Pavilionis said, “In Lithuania, all political leaders hated each other, and we still hate, but on strategic goals, we were always standing together. This lesson is never learned in Georgia. Please, learn it. That is the only way to succeed because the big Russian empire is dividing and ruling you. You lost territories already. Do you want to lose the future?”
